Alltel Offers LG Glimmer AX830 Touchphone
Alltel Wireless will be offering LG's new touchscreen handset, the Glimmer AX830 beginning this Thursday, March 13. It is a CDMA phone that will support Alltel's EV-DO network and has all the features you would expect in a slider touchphone. It seems very similar to the LG Shine, except with a touchscreen.

The Glimmer measures 3.9 x 2 x 0.6 inches and has a 2.8" display with a 240 x 400 px resolution. It weighs in at about 127 grams. The images released to the press reveal the typical LG shortcuts for menus, calls, messaging and phonebook. Not much is revealed about the rest of the interface, however. The touchscreen face slides up to reveal a standard numeric keypad. The Glimmer is also equipped with a 2 megapixel camera with a flash and 5x digital zoom. It also has 1.2 Stereo Bluetooth, 128 MB built in memory and a microSD slot. The Glimmer's music player has a customizable equalizer that supports MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+. It has an 800 mAh battery that will allow 3.5 hours talk time and about 168 hours stand-by.
The Glimmer will be pre-loaded with Alltel Navigation and RealTone JukeBox, have an Axcess TV Expandable memory slot and will be GPS capable.
The Glimmer AX830 will be available this Thursday the 13th for $249.99 USD with a two year contract and following a $100 rebate. The no-contract price is $419.99.
