Handset manufacturer High Tech Computer (HTC) has been developing a mobile phone that will run on Google's Android software. Called the Dream, it could very well be the first available mobile device to run on the Android platform.

The Dream will have a large screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. It will measure around 5 x 3 inches and the keyboard will be underneath the screen that will either slide or swivel out. Like the iPhone, the Dream will have a full touch screen interface.

Speculation has the Dream hitting stores anywhere from mid June up to the end of the year. I'd bet on the latter. According to sources Samsung is quickly coming along with their own Google phone as well. A BBC video shows the prototype undergoing tests at Google. It shows a Quake demo running very smoothly that is pretty amazing. Also Android will be the first platform to support Google Maps Street View while other phones can only show Map View and Satellite View. Take a look:

Not too crazy about this particular phone design, but it is only a prototype. Other than that everything seems to run very smoothly. It will be very interesting once the competition heats up. We should see some really amazing phones.
