AT&T to Offer Mobile TV by May
AT&T in conjunction with MediaFLO USA Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm, yesterday announced the launch of AT&T Mobile TV with FLO, which is a mobile television service that features high quality live programming. The mobile TV service is set to launch in May and will be available on two new handsets, the LG Vu and the Samsung Access.

AT&T Mobile TV will offer full length television shows and sporting events from a variety of networks including ESPN Mobile TV, Fox Mobile, Comedy Central, CBS Mobile, NBC 2GO, NBC News 2GO, MTV and Nickelodeon. In addition, AT&T Mobile TV will feature two exclusive channels which have not been announced yet. According to Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit, "AT&T Mobile TV is a powerful new mobile entertainment offering, which will give our customers a formidable lineup of sports, news and primetime shows, including two channels exclusively available to AT&T customers." President of MediaFLO USA, Gina Lombardi added that "making the FLO TV service available to AT&T customers, the nation's largest wireless carrier, MediaFLO USA continues to expand our award winning FLO TV service to consumers across the country."
Although they have not been formally announced yet, the LG Vu and the Samsung Access will be the first handsets to offer AT&T Mobile TV. The Vu is similar to the Prada, with a large touch screen. Here is a video about some of the Vu's features from CES 2008:
The Access apparently has a large landscape screen, ideal for viewing mobile TV and video. It also has an exceptionally strong internal antenna plus all the other amenities you would expect including a camera, stereo Bluetooth, etc.
More details should be available soon. Stay tuned.
