Clamshell Blackberry Announced by Retailer before RIM
Expansys, a UK based Internet retailer of smartphones and handheld devices has put RIM's Blackberry 8220 flip phone up on its site for pre-order before RIM has even announced the phone. Apparently it is just a Blackberry with a clamshell design.

The 8220 features both an internal and external display. The external is 160 x 128 pixels and allows you to quickly preview messages while the internal is 2.6" 240 x 320 pixels. It features a Sure Type keyboard like the Pearl. It has a 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 5x digital zoom and an LED flash, 3.5mm headphone jack and microSDHC expandable memory (comes with 75 MB internal memory). It supports SMS and MMS with video, POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, MS Exchange email. The camera features video recording and supports MP4, 3GPP, H.264 & DivX formats. It works on quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900. Its connectivity includes microUSB, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11g), GPRS Class 32.
It basically sounds to us like a clamshell style Blackberry Pearl, which some might find very appealing. It is 101.6x 50.8 x 17.18 mm and weighs 101.2 grams, just slightly bigger than the Pearl when opened and about 10 grams heavier. Obviously it is much smaller when closed. There is no word on the price or release date yet.
