Sony Ericsson Unveils the G705 Slider
Sony Ericsson today revealed their newest phone, the G705. Featuring a 2.4" screen and 3G connectivity, the G705 offers the ideal internet experience. It has an illuminated zoom button and you can enter landscape view simply by tilting the phone. According to Catherine Cherry, Global product marketing manager at Sony Ericsson, “This life-enhancing phone has everything you need to keep track of your daily activities and is perfect for keeping in touch with friends. It also allows you to stay fully up-to-date thanks to the full HTML browser, email support, and desktop RSS feeds - all delivered at turbo 3G speeds.”

Other features of the G705 include a 3.2 megapixel camera wtih video capabilities. The phone also features built in GPS combined with Google Maps and Wayfinder navigation. The G705 features a built in FM radio and a 1GB memory card. The phone is 95 x 47 x 14.3 mm and weighs 98 grams.
The G705 operates on GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 2100 networks. The American version of the phone will operate on GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100. Sony Ericsson also announced the G705u, which will be the outfit's first UMA phone and will allow users to smoothly roam between the mobile network and local area networks. This version will only be available through Orange.
Both phones will be available in early Q4 2008 in select markets. It will be available on the American market in Q1 2009. The G705 will come in Silky Gold and Majestic Black, plus Luminous Black for the G705u version only. No word on price yet.
