Nokia N96 Now Available in the U.S.

Nokia has announced that its flagship phone (or multimedia computer, as they call it), the N96 will now be available in the United States. The N96 will retail for a pricey $895 or $842 (online) and will be available at the Nokia stores in New York and Chicago, nokiausaonline.com and various independent retailers.

According to Alessandro Lamanna, Vice President of Sales, Open Markets, Nokia Americas, "The Nokia N96 offers the best of mobile entertainment, blending phone and multimedia options seamlessly with the unique Nokia Nseries dual slider - a great way to discover and share your favorite moments. Watch video, take high quality photos and geotag them to specific locations or directly upload them online via the fast Internet connection - the Nokia N96 takes mobile entertainment and communication to the next level."
Backing that statement, the Nokia N96 features a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash. The camera can capture high quality video at 30 frames per second. Photos can be geo-tagged and uploaded and shared via Nokia's Ovi service. The phone has 16 GB of internal memory expandable to 24 GB and an optional microSD card. The phone has a 2.8" display and built in 3D stereo speakers from which you can enjoy MPEG-4, Windows Media Video and Flash Video. The N96 can store up to 40 hours of video, which can be transferred from a PC via hi-speed USB 2.0 connection or online with WLAN and HSDPA support. The N96 also features turn-by-turn voice navigation which you will receive free for three months. The N96 operates on high-speed 3G HSDPA networks in the US (850 and 1900 MHz).
