EOps Unveils i24R3 Wireless Speaker System for iPhone
EOps displayed its new i24R3 Wireless Digital Multi-room Speaker System at this year's 100% Design Tokyo exhibit. Although the speakers look more like fans or lamps than speakers, the system sounds promising as a whole.

The system was designed for the iPhone/iPod by industrial designer Michael Young and features a bass unit dock and satellite speakers. The bass dock incorporates a 4" 40 watt sub-woofer while the satellite speakers are 3" and 20 watts. The sound quality can be adjusted and customized through the digital signal processor to optimize 3D sound and bass and treble effects. The 2.4 GHz digital wireless CD quality audio streaming technology with automatic Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interference avoidance allows the system to operate seamlessly throughout your home. The system comes with two satellite speakers but can accommodate up to eight. It can also be linked to your PC or Mac aside from your iPhone/iPod.
One of the unique features of the speaker system is gesture control. You can control the volume simply by waving your hands around the speakers or sub-woofer, which are equipped with motion sensors. You can also use gestures to control other sound options at the sub-woofer. Of course if you aren't into all this the system does include an RF remote through which you can control everything. Here's a demo:
The i24R3 is expected to be available early in 2009, no word on the price yet.
