AT&T Quickfire Now Available
AT&T's new phone, the Quickfire, is now available (online or in AT&T stores) just in time for the holidays. Made by Personal Communications Devices (PCD), the phone is designed specifically with messaging in mind, though it has plenty of other features one would want in a phone and is very simple to use. According to Mark Collins, vice president of Voice and Data Services for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, "The AT&T Quickfire is perfect for texting fans who let their thumbs do the talking and want the benefit of a full keypad but don't need corporate e-mail access or other business features."
The Quickfire features a large 2.8", 240 x 320 interactive touch screen. The screen slides over to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for fast messaging. It is a 3G phone (850/1900/2100 MHz) as well as GSM/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). It also has Bluetooth connectivity (1.2). The Quickfire has a 1.3 megapixel camera that has 4x zoom and is capable of video capture and playback. It also has GPS for finding your way around. It has 29.3 MB internal memory storage and is expandable up to 8 GB external microSD. It also, of course, has a music player, web browser and mobile email.
The Quickfire is 4.3 x 2.2 x 0.7 inches and weighs about 4.8 ounces. It has a 1200 mAh battery that allows for up to 3 hours talk time and 12 days of standby. The real upside of the Quickfire is its affordability. It is a full touchscreen 3G phone for just $99 with a two year service contract and after a $50 mail in rebate. Like all their quick messaging phones, the Quickfire is compatible with AT&T's messaging plans that offer 200, 1,500 and unlimited messaging for $5, $15 and $20, respectively.
