Rumors were flying around earlier this week that Sony Ericsson's flagship phone, the Xperia X1, would be available on November 28th. The Sony Style USA store does not mention this date but they do say they will be taking pre-orders starting Friday, November 21 and you will be billed "when the product ships." That bill will be a whopping $799.99.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

The Xperia X1 is certainly a nice phone, with a distinctive arc shape and metal body. It features a 3", 800 x 480 touch screen display. The X1 offers a unique display with its panel interface. Nine different panels show on your home screen at a time, but there are many to choose from. You can choose which panels you want, then customize each to suit your purposes. For example, the Sony Ericsson panel can be customized to display time, weather, news and calendar updates. The X1 operates on Windows Mobile 6.1 and supports both Internet Explorer Mobile and Opera 9.5. A full QWERTY keyboard slides out for fast messaging and, like the BlackBerry, push email is supported. The Xperia X1 also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, Photo light and video capture. It also has aGPS for your location based needs.

The Xperia X1 operates on GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/2100, UMTS3/HSPA 850/1900/2100 and WiFi 802.11b/g. It also supports Bluetooth 2.0. The X1 is 4.35 x 2.07 x .67 inches and weighs about 5.6 ounces. It has a 1500 mAh battery that allows for up to 10 hours talk time and 580 hours of standby. The X1 can be pre-ordered through the Sony Style USA store starting next Friday, the 21st. It is a nice phone, maybe not $800 nice though...

Update: Their site now says they are currently taking pre-orders but does not list a ship date. So scratch the Nov. 21st pre-order date.
