iPhone controls car at CES
One of the more interesting products at this year's CES was the Wireless Vehicle Access software developed by Delphi. Though only a concept right now, the software proved itself practical and demonstrated potential to be a real product. At the CES Delphi had their software installed on an iPhone, though it can be used with any smartphone or smart key fob. Whatever the device, a Bluetooth link is established with the car and then the magic happens.

First off, the link can be established from up to a mile away which is pretty amazing. The status of various vehicle components can be monitored such as the fuel, oil, brake fluid levels and tire pressure. You can also manipulate the climate control, control the windows, and start the ignition. Another feature allows you to determine if the car has been broken into and whether or not it is currently occupied.
Though it's only in concept stage at this point you can imagine the enormous potential this technology offers. Imagine, with a longer range and GPS, some day you will have your car drop you off, go park itself then come back to pick you up when you call it. Probably not terribly far off...
