Where to Pre-Order the Nikon D3000
Nikon today announced that its new entry level DSLR, the D3000, is available for pre-order. The camera was designed with beginners in mind - according to Nikon Europe Product Manager Jordi Brinkman, "The D3000 dispels the view that DSLR cameras are complicated and makes taking great pictures simpler than ever before. You can really concentrate on having fun with photography and the Guide mode helps you to get the best results with the minimum of fuss.”

The D3000 features a 10.2 megapixel sensor and Nikon's EXPEED processor. It has ISO sensitivity of 1600 and also has a pop-up flash for low light photography. It has an 11 point autofocus system to keep everything in focus and is capable of continuous shooting at three frames per second.
The best feature for those new to DSLR photography is the Intelligent Guide. This basically simplifies the settings, letting you enjoy the camera's full potential. A user friendly interface (displayed on the D3000's 3 inch LCD) lets the user choose shooting modes. Once a mode is selected it can be further adjusted to optimize the camera's performance for the particular situation. The D3000 also has Scene Recognition, which analyzes the scene and makes various adjustments to settings such as white balance, exposure, autofocus, etc. to deliver the best possible photo.
The autofocus has four settings: single-point AF for stationary subjects; dynamic-area AF for moving subjects; auto-area AF to automatically determine the proper focus method; and 3D-tracking AF for maintaining focus on subjects. The camera also has a Picture Control System, which lets users customize the characteristics of a photo via six setting: Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait, and Landscape. In camera editing allows you to touch up your pictures on the spot rather than waiting to go connect to a computer and use editing software.
The Nikon D3000 is compatible with an extensive array of NIKKOR AF-S and AF-I lenses, giving you the full spectrum from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto. It is also equipped with a dust reduction system that uses the Airflow Control System to direct dust away from the image sensor.
The D3000 is available now for pre-order from several online vendors and should ship some time in September:
