Google Won't Notify You When the Nexus 4 Returns, But This Will
Sometime after the the rapid sellout of what is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated mobile phones of the year, Google stopped offering users the ability to be notified when the Nexus 4 is available for purchase. For customers that are hoping to get their hands on a Nexus 4 when more stock becomes available, Google suggests only returning to periodically check the Nexus 4 web site for an update on the device's availability.
A third party service, however, has popped up to fill the void left by the removal of Google's "Notify Me" option. whohas.it, a free product monitoring service, is offering Nexus 4 hopefuls this same functionality, and perhaps a bit more. Users can sign up with whohas.it to receive mobile, email or desktop alerts when the Nexus 4 returns.
According to the service's Facebook page, there has been an "amazing response" to the introduction of the Nexus 4 tracker, a fact that should come as little surprise given how quickly the Nexus 4 sold out the first time around (some reports indicate as little as 24 minutes, though these are unconfirmed). Savvy customers will want to act as quickly as possible when Google makes the Nexus 4 available for ordering once again, which makes being one of the first to know when the Nexus 4 returns a must.
Users can also utilize the service to track other products in the Google Play store, such as the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, as well as a whole host of other in-demand products sold by other online retailers like the Nintendo Wii U and Google's new Chromebooks.
There is a mobile app, too, but not for Android users just yet. The Android version is reportedly "coming soon". iOS users can get the app from iTunes.
