Sony Ericsson launches XPERIA brand with XPERIA X1
Amidst a slew of announcements today in Barcelona, Sony Ericsson launched their new brand, XPERIA, and unveiled the XPERIA X1, an arc slider phone designed to create a premium converged mobile experience. According to Sony Ericsson's Head of Marketing, Dee Dutta, the XPERIA brand "represents [Sony Ericsson's] vision for a premium, energized communication experience." Rikko

Sakaguchi, Head of Portfolio and Propostions at Sony Ericsson says their "vision for the XPERIA™ X1 is to deliver a seamless blend of mobile Web communication and multimedia entertainment within a distinctive design."
That vision is delivered to us through an three inch clear wide VGA combined with a full QWERTY keyboard, encased in a stylish metal cased body. The XPERIA X1 comes with Windows Mobile and a unique panel interface that allows for easy navigation. The desktop has panels for all of your applications that you can configure and customize to your preference and then navigate through with the touch of a finger. You can also navigate using the keyboard or a 4-way button with an optical joystick. The X1 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus. The dimensions are 110 x 53 x 16.7mm and it weighs 145 g. The 3" screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
The X1 supports HSDPA/HSUPA and WiFi and will be available in select markets starting in the second half of 2008.
