Microsoft's free Xbox One game promotion started this week. Anyone who buys an Xbox One console at a participating retailer will receive one disc-based game of their choice for free. The free game is not limited to titles published by Microsoft, but they must be available in retail, meaning you can't pick a pre-order title like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The deal also applies to bundles. For example, you can buy the Xbox One Madden NFL 15 Bundle for $399 and receive a free download of Madden NFL 15 and a free copy of Destiny. Participating retailers include Target, GameStop, Best, Buy, Toys 'R Us, Amazon, and Wal-Mart. The deal ends on Wednesday, September 17.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that Mortal Kombat X will be available on April 14, 2015. The original mini-boss Goro will be available as an exclusive playable character and pre-order incentive. Goro joins Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Ferra & Torr and Raiden on the 2015 roster of kombatants. This is the first time Goro has made an appearance since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
Goro's first appearance was the original Mortal Kombat where he was the second-to-last boss before Shang Tsung. He was also the only character in the game who was not a digitized representation of a live actor. Goro did not become a playable character until Mortal Kombat Trilogy was released for the PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn.

Nintendo is the latest developer to jump on the interactive toy trend with its new Super Smash Bros. amiibo line of collectible action figures. The first wave of figures are now available for pre-order through several retailers, and some have already begun to sell out through Amazon.com. The individual toys can communicate with the Wii U GamePad controller to interact with the Super Smash Bros. game. Players can train each amiibo to level 50 and adjust their offensive and defensive capabilities to create the ultimate Super Smash Bros. character.
So far popular characters such as Pikachu and Mario are still in stock, while the lesser known characters Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer have already sold out on Amazon. It is unknown if these figures are selling out because of limited quantities, or if some customers are just up the odd characters first. Either way it is recommended to pre-order now, so you're not stuck paying high scalper prices come the holidays.
In case you have been living under a rock, Microsoft launched the Xbox One with Kinect sensor for $499 in November 2013. Bundling the console with the sensor made the Xbox One $100 more than the PS4, which ultimately helped Sony destroy Microsoft in sales. Microsoft then released a Kinect-less Xbox One for $399 in June. This gave the Xbox One a sales boost, but it wasn't enough to really make a dent, and Sony went on to be the latest winner of the console war. Now Microsoft has decided to release a standalone Kinect Sensor in October for $150. It is unclear why anyone would want to pay $399 for an Xbox One without the Kinect to only turn around and buy a Kinect. I guess Microsoft is sticking with its belief that people are going to fall in love with the sensor, and wants to punish them for not believing them in the first place my making them pay an extra $50.
If you were on the fence about buying an Xbox One with a Kinect you better do it now. Microsoft recently announced three new bundles: a limited edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare bundle for $499, a Madden NFL 15 set for $399 and a white Sunset Overdrive bundle for $399. None of these bundles come with a Kinect sensor. As you can see here, there are very few Xbox One / Kinect bundles available at the original $399 price.

The $100 collector's edition ships with a boatload of exclusives including a collectible art card personally autographed by Hulk Hogan and a piece of authentic ring canvas from Hulk Hogan's Monday Night Raw appearance on March 10, 2014 in Memphis, TN. The rarity of the items included in the collector's edition suggest that the Hulkamania Edition may be sold out for good, but hopeful gamers can still sign up for email and mobile alerts (iOS only) for the game here.
Jared Rea of 2K Games recently confirmed that more roster reveals are coming soon. Fans were disappointed with the original 62 playable characters announced on WWE.com. 2K Games is expected to announce at least 92 wrestlers total, including DLC characters. The Hulkamania Edition includes two exclusive playable characters, Hulk Hogan and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, and Sting is also being offered as a pre-order bonus.
Collector's editions for game such as Destiny and Dragon Age Inquisition have been flying off shelves making them impossible to find. Both Walmart and Best Buy had to cancel Destiny Ghost Edition pre-orders due to the overwhelming demand. Amazon.com did restock the Destiny Ghost Edition a few weeks back, but it sold out within minutes, and the Dragon Age Inquisition Inquisitor's Edition pre-orders were gone as soon as they hit Gamestop's website. It is hard to say if the Assassin's Creed Unity Collector's Edition will be as limited in supply as Destiny, but it may be a good idea to pre-order now just in case. Don't say we didn't warn you if it sells out!
The Assassin's Creed Unity Collector's Edition includes: A copy of the game for the PC, PS4 or Xbox One, a 16-inch tall statue of Master Assassin Arno Dorian, fully functioning Assassin's Creed Unity wooden music box playing a remixed version of the theme song, art book showcasing never-before-seen concept art, original game soundtrack, Notre Dame Cathedral collector's edition showcase box and two in-game missions containing over 45 minutes of extra gameplay: Killed by Science & Chemical Revolution.
Night Trap may be one of the worst video games ever made but it is also considered a cult classic. The game was released to the doomed SEGA CD in 1992 and it is known for being end of Dana Plato's career. The game also became a hit after being pulled from some store shelves due to the controversy over its racy box art / content and for being part of Congressional hearings on violent video games in the 1990s.
If you have never played Night Trap, it is a FMV horror game starring real people such as Plato and a bunch of other actresses who never worked on anything else ever again. The object of the game is to spy on a slumber party while helping Plato, who is an undercover S.C.A.T. (SEGA Control Attack Team) agent, save girls from something called "Augers". Players were tasked with listening to conversations so they could retrieve a security code to activate traps to catch the vampire-like people trying to kidnap the girls. The game was notorious for being tedious since it forced players to watch the same video clips over and over.
