Nintendo amiibo collecting has become one of the most stressful hobbies of the year. Finding amiibo pre-orders with all the random release dates and store exclusives is not only a full time job, but when you finally do find them they sell out in minutes. Nintendo's promise of making amiibos more readily available has also fallen through. Recent restocks of Pit and Wii Fit Trainer have sold out in seconds, and Best Buy just announced that Dark Pit will be an in-store exclusive. To top it all off Nintendo plans to release amiibos for Yoshi's Woolly World, Animal Crossing and Chibi Robo. Here are a few tips to help you finish your amiibo collection:
1. Here's a list of upcoming release dates: https://www.reddit.com/r/amiibo/wiki/dates Dark Pit is a Best Buy Exlusive. He will be available on July 31, in-store only and no pre-orders.
2. Sign up for the free Wave 5 amiibo Tracker.
3. iOS owners can download the whohas.it app to receive mobile alerts (way better than email alerts).
4. Get an online account at these retail stores: Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Gamestop.com, Bestbuy.com, Target.com, Toysrus.com, Newegg.com. This way you're prepared for when they come in stock online.
5. To fill in your collection you can purchase Japanese imports of hard to find amiibos through Amazon.com. For example, you can get Dark Pitt for $24.99 shipped and the super rare Robin for around $26.
The Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS are now in stock at Amazon.com.
"Both the Canon 5Ds DSLR and Canon 5DS R feature a newly-designed 50.6MP resolution 35mm CMOS sensor along with dual Digic 6 processors allows for some of the sharpest images ever captured by a digital SLR. The difference between the two cameras is that the 5DS R has a low-pass filter effect cancellation, which effectively improves the sensor's sensitivity. On the surface, the Canon 5DS and 5DS-R appear to be identical to the existing Canon flagship model, Canon 5D Mark III. Both models borrow the advanced programmable auto-ISO sensitivity from the 7D Mark II providing increased control over ISO sensitivity before having to stop down. With its built-in intervalometer, create time-lapses and long exposures to capture everything from an incoming storm to light trails from cars on night-time cityscape."
I've seen a few articles advising Halo fans not to pre-order the Guardians Limited Collector's Edition because we don't really know what it includes, but here's a few reasons why you may want to consider it. Most of these "limited editions" are actually limited and do sell out. Just ask anyone who tired to buy a Destiny Ghost Edition last year. While it is unknown how limited the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector's Edition actually is, it is safe to assume it will sell out before it is released.
The release date for Guardians is listed as “Fall 2015," which means it could be up to 9 months before the game is even available. Granted a lot could change in that time and make you reconsider your purchase, but most retailers do not charge you until the item actually ships. This is why it is a good idea to pre-order now and reserve your place in line. This way if the Limited Collector's Edition set turns out to be awesome, you won't be stuck kicking yourself for missing out. If it turns out it to suck, you can always just cancel your order.
