Isis, the joint venture between AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has announced that it will debut its mobile commerce program in Salt Lake City. The goal of Isis is to build a nation-wide mobile commerce network that will be available to all consumers, merchants, banks and mobile carriers, and will fundamentally change the way we shop. The first step on the road to fruition will land in Utah.

The launch is slated for some time in early to mid 2012. Isis also announced an agreement with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to make the entire UTA system Isis friendly, allowing the city's commuters to pay with a simple tap of their phones. Motorola announced today that it has invested an undisclosed amount in INSIDE Contactless, a world leader in contactless payment chips and near field communications (NFC) technologies for mobile devices. These technologies allow for secure payments and interactive advertising on mobile devices, an important factor in a future that demands greater mobile device versatility.
