Nokia Reveals N85, N79 Smartphones
Nokia today unveiled their new N85 which will replace the N81. The N79, an upgrade from the N78, was also introduced.

Like its predecessor, the N85 is a slider. Its camera has been upgraded to 5 megapixels (N81 had a 2 megapixel camera). The N85 is also equipped with GPS for directions, mapping and geotagging photos. The screen has been upgraded from a 2.4" LCD (color TFT) to a 2.6" AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode). Nokia Adds E71 and E66 Email Optimized Phones to Lineup
Nokia today unveiled its two newest "multimedia computers," the E71 and the E66. Both phones are optimized to access a range of personal and professional email solutions including Microsoft Exchange. The Mail for Exchange mobile email client comes preloaded on both the E71 and E66. In addition, both phones support email accounts from over a thousand internet service providers, as well as Yahoo! mail, Gmail and Hotmail. Both devices support the Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email solution as well as third party email solutions like System Seven and Visto Mobile and come with a new "switch mode" feature that allows you to flip between personal and work home screens. According to Andrew Brown, Director, Wireless Enterprise Strategies Global Wireless Practice, Strategy Analytics, "With mobile email penetration and access to wireless applications growing at a rapid rate, Nokia is well positioned with its extensive lineup of market leading handsets to address the needs of consumers, high-end users and mobile professionals alike."

Nokia, mobilkom Demonstrate World's Fastest I-HSPA Call at 10.1 Mbps
In a test of their new network architecture, Nokia Seimens Networks and mobilkom Austria today demonstrated the world's fastest data call on a mobile device using Nokia's Internet High Speed Packet Access (I-HSPA). The downlink speed reached a maximum of 10.1 Mbps during the trial.

I-HSPA is designed for heavy data transmission and multimedia usage. Nokia's Dual Carrier EDGE Solution Doubles Data Speed
As the first step of EDGE Evolution, Nokia Seimens Networks today launched their Dual Carrier EDGE software. The software will double the speed of data connections, up to 592 Mbps, on existing EDGE-capable GSM networks. This amounts to a much faster mobile internet experience that will allow for smooth streaming video, faster uploads, etc.

The Dual Carrier EDGE solution will be available as a software upgrade starting in Q3 2008. Nokia Seimens Networks is already looking ahead to the next step in EDGE Evolution. Nokia, U. Cambridge Launch the Morph Nanotechnology Concept Device
Today in New York Nokia Research Center (NRC) and the University of Cambridge (UK) unveiled the Morph, a nanotechnology concept that has blossomed from a partnership between the two announced last March.
